A Prayer for Peace

This is a verse and a prayer for peace for a wife who is suffering from her husband’s pornography use.

John 14:27 says

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (NKJV)

Dear God,

I come to You for peace. I know Your promise says that You will give me Your peace. You will not give to me as the world does. I am believing in You for that dear God. The world has left me alone and doubting Your presence. I do not have any peace at all. My heart is unsettled. My emotions are overbearing. Peace right now seems impossible.

But, I know that I can’t count on the world. I can count on You, God. I can believe in You. I can trust in Your promises God. I will meditate on John 14:27. I will memorize it and keep it in my heart. I will let Your words soothe my heart. Even when I am so upset, I will receive Your peace. God, You know everything that is happening in my life. You have the best plan for me. You only ask that I trust You. You can take this awful situation and turn it around to bring blessings. I know that’s true. When nothing else in this world is true, You-God, are true! I am going to take Your peace and Your love and rest knowing that my God will never forsake me. Thank You God. Thank You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen

  1. Thank you for your posts. I am encouraged by them and don’t feel so alone. I am a born again Christian, but I am really struggling with depression because of my husband’s pornography use, and texting another woman. How do you get your joy back? I am tired of living every day in sadness.

  2. T,
I’m sorry that you’re depressed and hurt. I want you to know I’m praying for you. I’m glad that you’re here and I hope that you’re able to find some healing in some of the posts and pages. Sometimes, talking about what you’re going through can help. You can do that anytime on the Prayer Request page or Personal Stories page. Just knowing that you’re here with other wives who are going through what you are can help sometimes.
I also want to tell you that I never did necessarily get my joy back from the hurt I’ve experienced. If I stop and think of it, the pain of those hurts will come back. They can even consume me if I let them. However, I am choosing not to let them. I am focusing on God and His plan for my life. It is really hard to do, but we can purposefully say- God, I’m gonna give this to you. When I’ve said that, I then try to get busy or involved in something that makes me feel good- like spending time with my kids or an activity that I like. I also spend time reading the Bible and drawing close to God. Please let us know how we can pray for you and you’re welcome to just “vent” here anytime you need to. Some days are sad, it’s true, but God is with you and He will bring you out of sadness.

  3. God’s peace is available to us at all times. Bless you for seeking to uplift and pray for those women who are suffering.
