Prayer for Husbands

This is a prayer for husbands written by my husband. It is based on the prayer that he has been praying each morning for two years. He uses this prayer to beat his struggle with lust and to stay away from all pornography. It is my hope that this prayer may help your husband too.

Dear Amazing, Wonderful, Forgiving God that makes anew all we have destroyed if we listen to you, trust you, and obey. I pray that I stay alert throughout the day, thinking of you, especially when Satan tries to trigger lust within me. Please watch over my eyes that they don’t wander where they shouldn’t and my heart and mind that they don’t think what they shouldn’t. I put on your armor, God that always remains faithful, as it says in your Word: “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” – Ephesians 6:11.

Also God, remind me of my beautiful wife you gave me to spend the rest of my life with, the person you created for me. As it says in your Word: Drink water from your own cistern, and running water from your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own, and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love” – Proverbs 5:15-19.

Thank you God for my wife and leading me throughout this day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

  3. Dear Both

Thank you for this prayer! I am a husband with some bad habits (including a porn habit) I am working to break out of. I shall write a prayer like this for myself and keep it with me through the day.

@Robi I haven’t succumbed since I read your post on Messy Marriage. Thank you for your help. I shall certainly pray for you both tonight, and read more of this blog.

  4. Hi David,
I am really happy for you as you work to beat this through the power of God. Thank you for your prayers and I’ll continue to pray for you as well.
